OK, I want contact lenses, what’s next?
Dr. Stephenson will perform various additional tests, not normally performed during a routine comprehensive eye exam. He will examine for dry eye issues and measure the curvature of the eye to match up the perfect contact lens contour and size. Once a decision is made on the proper contact lens, Dr. Stephenson will insert a trial lens to allow the patient to experience the comfort of todays contact lenses. Once a patient consents to proceed, we will order contact lenses. When the contacts arrive, we will provide insertion and removal training to ensure the patient can safely and effectively handle their contact lenses, providing them with the best possible chance of becoming a successful contact lens wearer. Depending on the lens type, one to three follow-up visits will be scheduled to make certain Dr. Stephenson is pleased with the fit of the lenses. Contact lenses have been worn safely by millions of people over many years. Routine follow-up care with Dr. Stephenson is required to maintain clear, healthy eyes. Always adhere to your proper wearing schedule and lens care regimen to avoid potential sight threatening complications.
